In late 2017, as plans for Reconciling Ways of Knowing (RWoK) were being formed, the Turtle Lodge Centre of Excellence in Indigenous Education and Wellness in Sagkeeng First Nation (MB) hosted a gathering of Indigenous knowledge keepers and Western scientists and academics, as well as other members of the RWoK planning team.

This gathering aimed to model a relationship-building process that could be used as more partnerships are formed across ways of knowing, and to set the planning process for RWoK on a good spiritual and ceremonial footing.

Feeding the Sacred Fire shares key considerations from the four days of ceremony and discussions amongst Elders, academics and practitioners on how Indigenous knowledge and science can better work together in reconciliation and using the best knowledge possible to address the ecological and human health challenges of our time.
